How to choose a dentist

PPO Network Dentists
PPO network dentists agree to accept payment for covered services, which means you’ll have the lowest out-of-pocket costs when you choose a PPO dentist. You’re responsible only for your deductible, coinsurance and any fees for noncovered services. PPO dentists will also file your claims with and receive payment directly from Blue Cross. Where permitted by law, PPO dentists offer the discounted fee schedule for noncovered services.

Blue Par Select Dentists
Blue Par Select dentists are not PPO dentists. Not all Blue Dental plans cover services provided by Blue Par Select dentists (i.e. Blue Dental EPO and Medicare Advantage). Most non-PPO dentists participate in our Blue Par Select arrangement, which means they participate with Blue Cross on a per-claim basis. Blue Par Select dentists accept the Blue Cross approved amount as full payment for covered services. You’ll pay only your plan’s deductible, coinsurance, or any fees for noncovered services.

Check with your dental office to confirm participation before making an appointment or receiving treatment. Be sure to mention if you have a Medicare Advantage plan.

*Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network dental plans use the DNoA Preferred Network. Federal Employee Program, BCN Advantage and Medicare Plus Blue PPO plans use the DenteMax network. Dental Network of America and DenteMax are independent companies.
